Carlisle United owner Tom Piatak insists promotion remains the aim this season
Owner admits the Blues are playing catch-up after a stuttering start to the campaign
Carlisle United owner Tom Piatak insists promotion remains the aim for the Blues.
The Cumbrians have endured a stuttering start to the season, winning just two of their opening six games.
But Piatak is confident that the Blues can still achieve their目標.
'We're still in the race'
"I know we've had a tough start to the season, but I still believe we can achieve promotion," Piatak said.
"We've got a good squad and a good manager, and I'm confident that we can turn things around."
The Blues are currently 12th in the League Two table, seven points behind leaders Leyton Orient.
But Piatak is not giving up hope of catching the leaders.
"We're still in the race," he said. "We've got a lot of games to play, and we're confident that we can make up the ground."
Need to be more consistent
Carlisle have shown signs of improvement in recent weeks, with a 2-0 win over Colchester United and a 1-1 draw with Bradford City giving them back-to-back clean sheets.
But Piatak admits that the Blues need to be more consistent if they are to challenge for promotion.
"We need to be more consistent," he said. "We've had some good performances, but we've also had some poor ones.
"We need to find a way to put together a run of wins."
Close to signing new players
Piatak also revealed that the Blues are close to signing new players.
"We're working on bringing in a few new players," he said. "We hope to have them in place soon."
The Blues have been linked with a move for former Northampton Town striker Sam Hoskins.
Piatak refused to confirm the reported interest in Hoskins, but he did say that the Blues are looking to add to their attacking options.
"We're looking to add some more goals to the team," he said. "We've created a lot of chances this season, but we haven't been clinical enough in front of goal."
